Quest: Assertiveness

Since im still on the quest and havent succeeded i thought i would write about what i have come across in my journey.

Assertiveness is defined by some people as the ability to express one's needs and thoughts confidently without hiding.
In simple terms that means if mister X is assertive
1. mister X feels good about himself
2. mister X feels free to express his feelings, thoughts and desires and knows his right and that makes other people know how to deal with him.

Okay thats a little bit of background.
But my problem is not with this, but with opposite of what i have written.
There are people like miss Z
1. who is unable to (or can not) express anger or frustration for some (weird or not) reasons.
2. has difficulties of saying no (there are many people i assure you)
3. allows others to take advantage of them (who doesnt feel that in way some point of life eh?)
4. has difficulties in expressing affection (not only in gf-bf situations but family, kids..etc)
5. thinks that (she) does not have the right to express their thoughts and feelings. or that what she tells is unimportant.
So this makes peoples like Miss Z life very difficult. Almost unbearable.

whats on my mind?

what are human beings?
so far i have got a biological definition. which talks about sleeping, eating, mating and a higher level of thinking. im not satisfied!!

are they basically good or bad?
human are neither good or bad. the characeter which we call personality is shaped by experiences and enviroment/society. we later label the people "bad".

are they born that way?
No. who said babies are bad. :p

are they controlled or controlling?
partly yes, they are controlled and they are not.

what motivates them?
Basic needs. foods, water, mating and shelter. these are basic needs, 0thers can be simplified to these needs.

Can people change?
yep

How do they change?
because of experiences, interactions and situations

Does something external cause them to change or must it come from with in?
*walks away cursing*

i might write the answers sometime later, if i haven't gone mad by then. To see my 'state of my mind', check out http://twitter.com/cordiemaverick., lack of blogging is partly due to studying, lack of creative mind juices and my mind going havoc. (^^,).

update: i wrote some answers. 25 January 2009 at 8:35
